Maldives aerial view

There is no other country in the World like The Maldives.
Located astride the equator, south of India and west of Sri Lanka, the all country unique specificity resides in the Geography made of an exclusive formation of natural atolls, sandy islands and reefs stretching along 823 km (511 miles) but occupying only an area of just 300 sq km (116 sq miles).
With an average ground of 1.5 meter above the sea level, the country is today endangered by the global sea level rising.
All land above the surface in the Maldives is of coralline origin.
The beauty of their lagoons and sandy beaches along with their splendid aerial views make the Maldives an Absolute Paradise.
The origin of the word “atoll ” itself derives from the Dhivehi language of the Maldives “Atholhu” and is now used in many languages worldwide.

Maldives Summer Monsoon…the essential

Day 56. NORTH MALE ATOLL. When Monsoon brings very artistic skies…Divine Maldives…

Maldives sunset summer monsoon

It’s June…
This is the time for the summer monsoon in Maldives. Named « Hulhangu » in Dhivehi ( Maldivian language), the summer monsoon often starts in May, reaches its peak around July/August and slowly disappear in October, followed by the winter monsoon ( “Iruvai” in Dhivehi).
The summer monsoon is considered as the strongest of both of them.
You will often experience strong to very strong shower rains. Winds are generally stable and strong too and blow West/ South-West.
During this period of the year, Maldives weather becomes very versatile.
Strong rains often follow a beautiful sunny morning. The weather can change in a few minutes…
Dark, rainy and very windy periods can be very short, but they can also go on for a few days and be immediately replaced by idyllic weather conditions.

Weather balance will remain very fragile all along the season. It is sometimes so humid that a bright Sun can suddenly disappear behind heavy dark threatening clouds.
Here, there is no rule and there never was. Climate changes also affect the Maldives and the phenomenon got stronger the past years.

However, the Summer monsoon also has its good sides !
It is the best times for windsurfing, kitesurfing, fishing and surfing.
But if you are neither a windsurfer, a surfer or a fisherman…and you are a fan of spectacular sunsets and photography, Maldives will also fulfill your wishes.
This is precisely during at this time of the year ( high humidity combined with strange cloudy skies) that Maldives will offer you her best Natural shows with breathtaking unforgettable sunsets…

Noonu Atoll is located North Maldives, at 40 minutes seaplane flight away from Male.

Wild and unspoiled, the Atoll still counts very few Resorts.

Northern Atolls nature offers a different landscape. Islands generally have a few or no coconut trees with a low and dense vegetation.

Noonu Atoll is part of the unknown Atolls of the archipelago, due to a very recent Resort development and distance from Male International Airport.
As most of the unknown places in the world, Nature here remains untouched. The feeling of being at the end of the world is absolute.

Noonu Atoll, together with many Northern Atolls are also famous for their rich and various diving sites. Divers often come to this part of Maldives for shark observation.

Definitively a place to experience…
