Undoubtedly, flying above Maldives is an incomparable experience.

There is no better way to observe the infinite mosaic of islands and reefs spreading along the 90000 km 2 ( 35 000 sq mi) of this fabulous archipelago.

In Maldives, aerial views are truly breathtaking. From the sky,  islands and reefs look like tiny green and ivory spots, surrounded by turquoise waters and gracefully lying on the deep blue color of the sea.  Even from the sky, lagoons are so transparent that we can, sometimes, observe groups of fishes swimming around in their labyrinths of corals.

Formed over hundreds of thousands of years on volcanoes’ sinking remains, the 26 atolls of Maldives will surely astonish you, not only by their indisputable beauty, but also by their aspect and variety of shapes.  Their splendor, even after several flights above the archipelago, will always surprise you and never make you lose your enthusiasm.

In Maldives, in her quest for Perfection, Nature drew fabulously shaped islands and reefs.

This unique photo of a small  heart-shaped coral reef, spotted during one of our photoflights, is again another testimony of Maldives beauty.

Swimming-pool, lagoon,… or simply Maldives ?

Swimming-pool, lagoon, or simply Maldives!!
No. This is not a Photoshop montage. This protected natural lagoon pool is one of the thousands amazingly shaped sandbanks of Maldives. This photo was shot a few months ago and could probably not be the same if I would photograph it again !
Indeed, according to tides and Maldives seasons (Maldives have 2 seasons called Monsoons) sandbanks constantly change their shapes due to currents. Some of them are moved away to another location, some disappear totally or for a while, and some other are born.
Who said Maldives landscapes are always the same ?

24th October 2009 – A Global Day of Climate Action

24 October, 2009 will be historic–a day when the world came together to take a stand for our future.

In every corner of the planet, people will organize 350 actions.

We’ll collect these images from around the world and, with your help, deliver them to the media and world leaders.

Together, we can show our world and it’s decision-makers just how big, beautiful, and unified our movement really is.

To help you take part in October 24’s international day of climate action, 350.org will:

– Lift public awareness on the need for an international climate treaty to reach 350.

* Assemble a coalition of hundreds of organizations committed to this vision of a more sustainable world;

* Connect you with others in your community and across the planet who are building this movement;

* Provide on-line resources and tools that make pulling together an event easy

* Link your October 24 event with hundreds of other actions at iconic places around the world

* And leverage the day of action for meaningful political change.

350.org is an open-source campaign: it’s your ideas, input, and energy that will make October 24 and this movement for change a success. Have something to contribute?
